David Gilmour – Yes, I Have Ghosts

There’s still one more Record Store Day Drop to go but plans are in full swing for Record Store Day Black Friday on 17 November. We’ll have more info on that soon, but first: news of a special #RSDBF release from Mr David Gilmour.

Yes, I Have Ghosts is his first new song in five years from the increasingly reclusive God of Prog, and it will be pressed on a limited edition 7” single.

It was written with the novelist Polly Samson and was inspired by her book ‘A Theatre for Dreamers’. The song was digitally released in the summer as part of the audiobook for the novel. On the B-side is an alternate mix by Andy Jackson.

“I was working on this song just as we went in to lockdown,” Gilmour tells Long Live Vinyl, “but had to cancel a session with backing singers. As it turned out, the solution was right here and I couldn’t be happier with (my daughter) Romany’s voice… and her beautiful harp playing has been another revelation.”

“Collaborating with David – as I have done many times over the last 30 years, writing songs for both Pink Floyd and his solo albums – we were able to bring together the worlds of literature and music to enhance the listening experience,” Polly says, “and connect with audiences in a way which I don’t think has been done before”.
