This is set to be the band’s 10th album – their first since 2013…
The Boston-based trio, Throwing Muses, are set to return with their signature sound on 22 May with the release of their latest studio album, Sun Racket.
A follow up to 2013’s Purgatory/Paradise, the new album is said to be packed with modal guitars, pounding drums and heavy bass. To tease their reverbed sound, Throwing Muses have released a new single from the album, Dark Blue.
Frontwoman Kristin Hersh said of the new album in a press release: “All it asked of us was to commingle two completely disparate sonic vocabularies: one heavy noise, the other delicate music box. Turns out we didn’t have to do much. Sun Racket knew what it was doing and pushed us aside, which is always best. After thirty years of playing together, we trust each other implicitly but we trust the music more.”
A special edition of Sun Racket will be pressed on violet vinyl. The LP is currently available for pre-order.
