Back when the sound of Seattle took on the mainstream, Soundgarden were the heavyweights of delectable downbeat anthems. However, in 1997 the band went on hiatus for 16 years, before reconvening for sixth album King Animal. Captured in action at LA’s Wiltern, Live From The Artists Den finds Chris Cornell and co in fine form.
As fan favourites (Flower) and deep cuts (Blind Dogs) wrestle for space alongside 10 tracks from King Animal, it is the classics lifted from 1994’s Superunknown and 1991’s Badmotorfinger that are the highlights: Fell On Black Days, 4th Of July and Black Hole Sun butt heads with the frenzied onslaught of Jesus Christ Pose, Rusty Cage and Outshined, before the brutish epic Slaves & Bulldozers.
The Super Deluxe box features the complete concert film on Blu-ray and a colour photobook.
