Record label Run Out Groove are introducing Cornerstones – a release of records that are considered vital to any collection – and an expanded edition Morphine’s Yes is the first record on the list.
Each month, Run Out Groove allows fans to vote on the label’s next high-quality vinyl pressing, chosen from selections of unreleased material, reissues of out-of-print titles, or brand new collections compiled from the Warner Music vault.
They are proud to introduce ROG Cornerstones. These are records that we believe should be a foundational part of everyone’s music collection. ROG Cornerstones will be limited, but not numbered and produced in pre-determined quantities available for extended pre-order periods. ROG Cornerstones will be produced to the same exacting quality as all Run Out Groove releases and can include recordings new to the vinyl format, expanded editions with bonus material, new collections or releases that include previously unissued material. Regardless of era or genre they are all cornerstones.
For their inaugural Cornerstones release, Run Out Groove present an expanded 2LP edition of Morphine’s third studio album, Yes, that has been out of print on vinyl for almost ten years. Originally released in 1995 on Rykodisc, Yes went in a more adventurous direction than its predecessor Cure for Pain and yet ironically was the first Morphine record to make the Billboard Top 200.
“Run Out Groove does it again with the release of Yes, a 2 LP set with bonus tracks culled from the Morphine archives,” says Dana Colley, who helped put the expanded reissue together. “It is masterfully produced with a sonic brilliance unparalleled anywhere else.”
With assistance from saxophonist Dana Colley, Run Out Groove have gone back to the original master tapes for the first time to cut lacquers and their mastering team has produced the best sounding version of this album. This expanded edition will include a bonus LP of rarities that features rare Yes-era B-sides never released on vinyl, unreleased outtakes from the Yes sessions and unreleased live broadcast recordings making their debut. The 2LP set will be pressed on 180g vinyl and come in a beautiful gatefold Stoughton tip-on jacket with new artwork and some commentary from Dana. Limited to 3500 copies worldwide and shipping around October 12, it could be a good idea to follow their socials to get production updates and learn about how to win a signed test pressing from Dana Colley.
