Joni Mitchell’s most recent studio album, 2007’s Shine, will receive its debut release on vinyl on April 3. The disc, which can be pre-ordered now, is pressed on 180-gram vinyl.

Highlights from the 10 track album include the instrumental opener, One Week Last Summer, featuring the versatile multi-instrumentalist Bob Sheppard on soprano saxophone; the epic Night of the Iguana, loosely based on John Huston’s 1964 film; the title track, featuring an appearance by longtime friend James Taylor on guitar; Mitchell’s revisit to Big Yellow Taxi, which feels eerily prophetic 50 years after its debut, as well as If I Had a Heart, one of Mitchell’s most haunting melodies.
The songs on the album found Mitchell commenting on and inspired by the environmental, social and political upheaval that occurred during the Iraq War era.
Mitchell has recently been in the news regarding the Les Paul Innovation Award she was awarded at the 35th Annual NAMM Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards in Anaheim, California.
